The least expected person came to help, without even telling us his name. He just came, helped and left immediately. I will never forget the kindness he showed my mother and I. I will never forget the help from the least expected.
“Get in the car dear!” My mother shouted, “Let’s go to the shopping mall!”
The holidays had finally arrived, and my parents brought my siblings and me to our favourite holiday destination, Australia. My Cousin had migrated to Australia a few years ago, and we would stay with her during our time in Australia. It had been a long awaited holiday for me as I anticipated going to the warm sandy beaches and the cool ocean breeze. That was not the only part of my holiday that I was looking forward to, I was looking forward to shopping! My cousin told me about all the wonderful things I could buy, and I had been begging my mother to bring me to a shopping mall ever since we arrived in Australia.
Finally, my mother grew sick of my begging and decided to take me to the nearest shopping mall. I hopped into the car and headed to the mall.
The mall was huge. Everywhere I turned, all I could see was shops and stores. There were so many shops to the extent that I had no idea where to start shopping. Time soon flew by, and before we knew it, we were loaded with bags and bags of things we bought.
My mother soon told me that it was time to head back as she struggled to carry the load. I agreed and followed my mother to the car. The cars were lined neatly, and all of them looked almost the same, causing my mother and I to take a long time to find our car. Eventually, we found the car and loaded all our shopping goods into the car’s boot. I got into the front seat as my mother hopped into the car, getting ready to start the car.
“That was a lot of shopping!” I giggled and turned around to see all the shopping bags at the back of the car.
“Yes, it was!” My mother replied as she turned the key to start the engine. The usual roar of the engine was not heard, and my mother tried to turn the key once more. Nothing happened. My mother started panicking as she tried to turn the key over and over again, but it was to no avail. The car refused to start at all.
Panic struck both my mother and I as we were in a foreign country, with no idea where to turn for help. My mother scrambled out of the car and checked the engine. It turned out that the battery was flat, and we need a jump-start cable to jump start our car.
I broke out in a cold sweat as the thought of us being stranded in the carpark flooded my mind. I should not have insisted on going shopping! My mother was frazzled as she rummages through the car to find a jump-start cable. After turning the car inside the car inside out, we still did not find it and decided to ask around to find someone kind enough to lend us a jump-start cable.
We walked around the carpark over and over again, asking everyone we met if the had a jump-start cable. Most of them ignored us, sneering at our petite size and Asian skin, while the rest, unfortunately, had not jump-start cable to lend us. We were just about to give up when we saw a burly man with tattooes plastered on his arms, arranging some sort of cables at the back of his old van. The stench of cigarettes could be detected ten metres from him as we approached him. I hesitated, I did not want this man to help! He looked so dangerous and scary! My mother ignored me and approached the man cautiously, asking him for his help. It just so happened that he had a jump-start cable and was more than willing to help us.
He drove his beat-up old van next to our car and like a professional mechanic, he immediately connected the cable to our car and our car sprang back to life and the roar of the engine was heard once again.
My mother heaved a huge sigh of relief as if a huge burden was lifted from her shoulders. We were both filled with gratitude towards him and was about to thank the man for his help, but the man had already left, driving his van away.
Until this day, my mother and I have no idea what that kind man’s name was, but I was very thankful for his help> I learnt never to judge a book by its cover and that we should accept everyone with open arms. I will never forget the kindness shown by this mysterious man, the help from the least expected person.

Title: The Mysterious paradise (Final)

There was a person, with his crew floating around space. His name was Tim, and he was lost in space with his crew in their gleaming spaceship.

Tim held a discussion. “We have escaped earth's death. Now what?” Tim started, remembering the depleting and wasting. All they had ever done. “Well, I should believe we were not fated to survive. As such, we should maybe go on a suicide mission?” answered Perry, their second-hand man. The crew were all strong believers in fate, and fate had said no to survivors. “I should agree. Any suggestions on the mission to uptake?” Sam, the ship’s engineer, continued. “well Samantha, maybe a black hole will suffice? I hear there's a theory by Stephen Hawking that black holes may lead to another universe.” Arthur said in his booming voice. Not being able to think of anything else, Tim agreed. This way, they would either make amazing discoveries or die, rightfully so.

Sam checked everything. Everything was ready. They took off, zipping through the stars. They watched the stars and gazed at the planets. It was beautiful. It was as if it were fate.

Then, they were there. They knew it was the black hole, as an explosion of everything was sucked into it. It spiralled and turned, and they knew it was because of a tiny dot, the size of an eraser, that was, well, 4 million times the mass of the sun. "hey just like the description I read! They said black holes like this might lead to another universe." Perry exclaimed excitedly. They hurtled towards it, wanting to discover more. Deeper into the hole in space. It became blacker, pitch black then blacker still.

Then it was bright and white everywhere, a white so intense it almost seemed black, so blinding that they almost crumbled into nothing. It was so silent, and they could almost see it floating in the air. “This might be it!” Tim said awkwardly. Thank goodness he broke the silence. Goodness knows what might have happened.

Then there was a problematic piece of shipwreck heading towards them.

They had to move fast. Tim immediately climbed into his suit and started climbing out. The crew knew he would not come back. “Tim don’t! I…I….never got to tell you…” Sam whimpered. Tim had known long before. Sam had always liked him. That was why he was doing this for them. Because he loved Sam. “I know I will not come back. But I will always live on in your heart. Keep safe my friends. I know you’ll make it to the other side.” he jumped out and flew into space, saving his friends by destroying the incoming wreck with his blaster, floating away forever away into the void, away from the hole, away from them.

And then, they landed on soft grass. Happily, they realised this was a parallel universe where the people had saved themselves by saving Earth and its precious resources. This was the new beginning.

One of my earliest memories was when my grandma took care of me. She had brown hair, and her fringe combed upwards, and her face was smooth without wrinkles. She usually wore very beautiful clothes that looked very expensive but was very cheap. She has a deafening voice. She would bring me around to shop or eat very nice food.
I used to play at the playground near the void deck. I would always run towards the pole and climb it. I would always see people playing soccer in the field. I would hear children laughing, screaming and running around the playground. I would usually join them and run around screaming.
I lived in a four-room flat since only my parent and grandpa, and I lived there, we knock down a room for bigger living room space. The big space would usually be my play area. I would always build my lego there or sit there and draw random things. Near dinner time,  I would hear my grandpa cooking, and the smell would drift through the air in my home.
These are the memories that could not be taken away.

The park lay before him. The dimly lit up park with some overgrown bushes shot an eerie looked up but there was nothing, this send goosebumps over his body. As he continued, there was more rustling of leaves, and a half eaten fruit dropped in front of him. John’s lip started to turn dry, and he began to curl down a bit and quicken his pace.
A shadow loomed over John down from the trees. it had four limbs and a long tail. He stop and his imagination ran wild thinking of the horror movie he watched. The shadow moved a bit; then it started to make a chittering sound. The hair on his neck stood up, he panic and trembled
He closed his eyes and broke into a run trying not to think about it. He took a deep breath before stepping into the park. Trees loomed over him as if wanting to grab him. “I been through a haunted house, this is nothing,” John told himself as John walked through the park, he taught he heard some leaves rustling above him. He looked up but there was nothing, this send goosebumps over his body. As he continued, there was more rustling of leaves, and a half eaten fruit dropped in front of him.     When I was a child, I well remember playing on my grandma’s turning stool. I used to spin in circles on it. One day, when my grandma was away, I spin around on it, and the stool suddenly broke! When my grandma came back, she saw the broken stool and sent me to my room.
My room has many drawing by my father. The curtains were undrawn, and light flooded the room. As soon as my grandma left, I got angry and jumping on my bed until I got tired. I closed my eyes and fell asleep.
When I woke up, it was already dark. The apartment opposite my house was shining brightly with all the room filled with lights. Then the door opened. I hid under the blanket as a form of protection against the visitor.
The next morning, my mother came up to me and said, “ were you scared of me last night, I told you not the see that horror movie poster.” So the visitor was my mom I laugh at myself.

Creative Writing Task 3 by Lucas Tan

When I was a child, I will remember that I had refused to go to kindergarten, I  had to be dragged, to the dreadful place by my father, crying with puffy tears on my eyes. Finally, I was dragged to the school. After school, my father sent me back to the room and shouted, " You're grounded!"

When I entered my bedroom,  I stared long outside, marvelling at the trees and the birds, chirping a melodious melody. The cars, looked like ants, neatly packed in a staright row in the middle of the carpark.

Suddenly, in the midst of darkness, I saw two eyes, glinting in the midst oof the darkness. it slowly approached me, struggling with each step. Then, without further ado, I extended my hands out for the torchlight and shown it at the room. Then, the figure was gone. It had vanished in thin air!

The next morning, I woke up with a lenghy yawn and pondered over what could have happened that day.

Name: Ryan LiClass: S103Date: 2/2/16Title: Locked in Orbit. The year is 3999. Everyone is normal. Or so it was thought……Ryan and his best friend Nathan were exploring the Arctic when strange things started happening. First, the expected winter did not come. Second, they began feeling nausea; this went on for several days. Then, unable to take it any longer, Nathan announced,“Let's just watch the news, made they will have some answers for us.” Ryan nodded in agreement. But when they used Ryan’s holographic projector and went to the news website, what they saw was not the news. A hooded figure filled the holographic projector. His face was half-metal, indicating that he is a cyborg. Then, in a great and raspy voice, the figure spoke. “The Earth has locked, the apocalypse has arrived and we, the Syndicate shall save you. We only ask in return that you will turn over those of you who have developed certain……abilities. Do not resist……”  With that, the broadcast ended.Needing time to wrap his head around this, Nathan stood up, paced around Ryan, his solid-built body shaking slightly with each step. Ryan, remained seated in the snow, thinking, how can this be? The apocalypse was only supposed to happen another million years from now.The scientist said so. Then, He noticed with bewilderment that a line of people clad in black robes was advancing toward them. They were wearing the same kind of clothes as the person they saw on Ryan's phone. Syndicate members, Ryan thought, maybe they are here to save us. Nathan noticed them too. Then, the members raised their metallic hands. Suddenly, a sonic boom came out of one member's hands. It hit the rock beside Nathan. In a bout of panic, Nathan raised his hand to shield his face from shrapnel, and a lightning bolt flew out of it striking one of the Syndicate members. Ryan looked at Nathan and as if they could read one another’s minds they bolted in opposite directions. The Syndicate members also split up.Ryan ran, he knew not where, just as long as it was away from the members. When he finally stopped to rest, he thought, why do they want to kill me? As if sensing where Ryan was, the Syndicate members appeared in front of Ryan. As he raised his hands to protect his face from whatever the syndicate members were about to do to him, all the syndicate members flew in the direction his hand was moving, causing them to become impaled on a rock outcropping. I guess that's why— I have telekinesis.Ryan thought grimly. As he retraced his steps, he found the final Syndicate member standing over a knocked-out Nathan. His head turned towards Ryan as he approached, forgetting about Nathan. Suddenly, Ryan was being crushed. The pain was all that existed at the moment . Oblivion washed over him.Ryan awoke to find Nathan standing over him and the syndicate member dead behind them. In his forehead  “What do you think caused this?.”Nathan asked. “They charged particles from the sun. They break down DNA when someone is exposed to them.” Ryan replied. “They will be coming for us,” Nathan said. “ No, they will not. We will be coming for them.”Ryan replied with a heart burning with determination.

Title: The-Kill

Nanobots were inserted into people's bodies to prevent humans from getting viruses. They were as small as a cell and lived in them for a long time helping humans.

“Unknown cause of death” Tim read the article to himself. A person was found dead. When doctors conducted an autopsy, they found out weird things had happened to his body, but no physical damage was there. "Weird,” Tim thought. Three days later, another case surfaced up. It was getting weirder and weirder. Tim left for the hospital to get his nanobots serviced. Now, his body was empty of nanobots for a week. That would save his life when the killer strikes.

The next day, Tim was in school listening to history, when the teacher started coughing out blood. Her face turned pale, and she collapsed. Soon more students started coughing out blood and fainted. Blood splattered all over the room turning the floor red. Tim felt an incoming horde of nausea; his head spun in circles. “What was happening?” Tim muttered under his breath.Tim ran past all the bodies and out of the classroom and threw up. He spun his head and saw more students lying on the floor. He rushed out of the school compound to see more people dead on the floor. Blood spilled everywhere around them. Emotions of confusion, sadness and fear rose up in his body. “What is happening?” Tim shouted out in frustration. His body drained out of energy, Tim slowly sank in a corner of a street far from one body.

Tim woke up to the sound of a honking car. He opened his eyes and saw two men emerging out from the car. They grabbed him and shoved him into the car. “Where are you taking me?” Tim demanded from the two men. “To a survival camp,” one of the men said in a dark tone. From the backseat, Tim could make out two muscular figures. They seemed to be armed with weapons. Soon they arrived at a compound where Tim got off. When he got in, he saw many army officials patrolling the area with guns in their hands.  People went around doing their work. When they saw Tim, they started clapping before going back to their work.  One of the men who brought him there said, “We’ve been trying to group survivors from the kill to destroy the mastermind behind all this. Congrats on surviving "The-Kill.”

Tim walked around the compound. He saw many rooms and facilities. There were many medical rooms. There were counselling rooms, where doctors were counselling their patients who had survived "The-Kill" and were frightened. At nine o’clock, there was a gathering with everyone there. Tim squeezed through the crowd and saw a leader on a little stage. He shouted out, “We do not know the motives of this individual. He hacked into our nanobots and killed most of our people. We take it as a terrorist attack. I tell you, we will find and destroy him!” Everyone shouted a loud “Ha!” Tim looked around at the crowd, what was left of his town. He shouted a loud “Ha!”

Days later, they tracked down the killer in a hideout and killed him brutally. Technology is a useful thing, but if misused, terrors would unfold.

Title: The Brainwasher

The Brainwasher
The sinister being had a head of unkempt hair which was bleached a golden brown and had a crooked smirk plastered across his tanned, wrinkled face. He was a man of jealousy, who procrastinated about the tons and tons of awards his brethren received. Ironically, he had dedicated his life on scientific inventions but had never made any breakthrough. In fact, he loathed all the other scientists and decided to build a device that sends brainwaves that will abolish the memories of all the scientists in the world.Vengeance shall dawn upon this very day; therefore, he would become the last scientist on Earth. The man was Doctor Zulu, infamously known as Dr Z.

“Initializing…” , Dr Z activated the device, “Brainwasher” connected to the satellite dish and out came the list of World’s scientist names. In another contraption, he initialised his programme code and transmitted the radio signals to the satellite. The satellite acquired these “uplinks” and, “re-transmitted” them back to Earth. One by one, the scientist's memories were erased. As a result, all the scientists would forget who they were!

On that particular day, Leo, a bespectacled and genteel boy, also a computer fanatic had just finished school. He walked towards Professor Xavier De Souza’s laboratory. Leo was an SST student, worked part-time as a lab assistant for Professor Xavier. Therefore, he knew every single creation and invention by hand. Once there, the news headlines flashed on television, stated in its bold, red letters, “Breaking News! All the scientists in the world are suffering from a severe case of Retrograde Amnesia.” Leo scanned the room thoroughly and spotted a note on the table. It was from Professor X to him, stating that he was lounging in his cozy capsule, nestled underground in a signal blocking chamber.

Without further ado, Leo rushed to the capsule and with a mighty pull, he lifted up the lid and rattled the professor with all his might. “Wake up this instant Professor!” Professor X got up all lethargic with a long yawn. Not wasting a precious second, Leo explained the entire episode to Professor X. Upon realizing that he was the only scientist that was not affected by the “Brainwasher” as he was concurrently isolated in the room without any connection to the outside world, he darted out instantaneously into the programming room.

Professor X typed feverishly on his computer and researched more on Retrograde Amnesia. He checked his entire list of scientist names and found that the only other scientist not affected was Dr Z. His suspicion grew as he checked Dr Z’s profile, in fact, he was right Dr Z had done all this. Being a top genius in Mathematics and Computer Science, he could easily decipher the programme codes of Dr Z and transmitted it back to the satellite to reverse the effect. In a flash, all the scientists’ lost memories were retrieved and returned back to them at last.

As for Dr Zulu, Professor X had revealed Dr Z’s misdemeanor to the police, they swiftly tracked down his whereabouts and apprehended the malicious nuisance. Dr Z got his just deserts! Finally, peace was restored to the world again!

Consequently, Professor X and Leo were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for restoring peace to the human kind.

(546 words)

In summary, Dr Z’s evil intentions to erase every scientist’s memories was foiled by Professor X, who stopped his plans and Dr Z got arrested.
